New Version Released of Document Input Solution

Massive improvements have been made in our document input solution Simple Index to make it faster, more accurate, more reliable and useful in a wider variety of applications.  You may not notice many of these at first glance, but you sure will once you start processing batches!

Simple Index is a tool to automate the process of scanning and organising large numbers of documents. As its name implies, Simple Index was designed to be easy to use. Relative to other document capture solutions with this much flexibility, and is much simpler especially for the operator. It does this by providing a smooth workflow that takes the user automatically through the stages of scanning, processing, indexing and exporting documents. It also links seamlessly with the PrintBOS Archive Server module for ease of storage and retrieval of all documents.

Major New Features in the latest version:

  • Full support for Windows Vista operating system

  • Ability to run jobs as a windows service for server-based processing

  • Upgraded Barcode engine with significant improvements in accuracy

  • Upgraded ISIS engine supports dual-stream scanning (Colour + B&W)

  • ISIS scanning is now included with Barcode, OCR and Full licenses

  • PDF to TIFF conversion

  • Scan, view and OCR individual files without batch processing

  • Read and write TIFF/NTFS file properties (Title, Author, Keywords, etc.)

  • Integrated thumbnail viewer to preview and navigate multi-page files

  • Integrated editor to view and correct OCR results

  • Full viewing and editing for MS Office documents

  • Automatically backup files before processing

  • Export options to overwrite existing files or append to start of file

  • Filter input files by create/modified date or time of last batch

  • Media player controls for Play, Pause, Stop, Volume and Position

  • Completely redesigned versions of Coversheet and Simple Send

      • Both applications rewritten on .NET 2.0 platform with latest technology

      • Coversheet now lets you lay out pages any way you like.  You can place barcodes in the blank space of existing pages, and even create Avery labels.

      • 2D PDF417 barcode support and enhanced control over 1D barcodes

      • Simple Send now supports secure FTP with much improved error recovery

Other New Features and Updates:

  • Improved JPEG and PDF compression support

  • Support for MS Access 2007 databases

  • Imprinting support for PDF files

  • Scan directly to output folder when no processing options selected

  • View Log, Backup and Processing folders from View menu

  • Show/Hide annotations on TIFF images

  • Timer to run batch job ever X minutes without using task scheduler

  • Ability to run multiple jobs in sequence automatically

  • ISIS support for automatic page splitting

  • Much faster scanning and export speeds on network drives
